In addition to covering the skills required to helm powerboats in a swiftwater environment this course builds upon skills already learnt in SRT and applies them to working from boats in swiftwater.

2 Day Class. Rescue Boat Operator: either the  RYA Level 2 Powerboat Award or our own DEFRA compliant Rescue Boat Operator course. Either course is suitable for people with little or no powerboat experience who wish to attain an inland boat handling and rescue boat capability on flat or slow moving water. RBO

3 Day Class: Flood Rescue Boat Operator:  a 3-day course which incorporates all elements of the RBO course and adds flood rescue capability. It is ideal for any emergency service personnel who may attend flood events with boats for low level casualty and victim recovery from a flood or slow moving water environment. FRBO

5 Day Class: Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Boat Operator: this course is intended for emergency services or rescue teams who will be required to carry out rescues in a swiftwater and  flood environment. This course incorporates all elements from the FRBO course and adds a swiftwater capability suitable for fast moving rivers and flash flood conditions. SFRBO

Course pre-requisites

  • Students need to have completed a Rescue 3 International Swiftwater Rescue Technician or equivalent qualification within the last 3 years
